Elastomers EPR

1 of 4 products in this brand
Elastomers EPR is an oil and solvent resistant off-white colorable polymeric composition in pellet form, based on EPDM rubber containing peroxide curing agent, ready for extrusion in a conventional CV or dry cure extrusion line. Cables jacketed with this compound are recognized for balanced properties including excellent heat and deformation resistance at high temperatures, oil resistance, and superior mechanical properties and is suitable for operation up to 450F (230C) in appropriate cable construction when extruded and cured consistent with industry standards.

Processing

Elastomers EPR compound is engineered to be processed on conventional extrusion equipment. It is recommended that this product is processed using a shallow screw, cross channel obstruction such as mixing rings should be avoided. Metering screw with 2.5-3:1 compression ratio in 15/1 through 20/1 extruders should produce satisfactory results. The compound supplied is in the cleanest state and is of the highest quality; however, the use of a breaker plate with a screen pack of approximately 20/40 or 20/60 mesh is recommended for optimal rheological flow and steady back pressure.

Pre-drying of the compound is not necessary, provided that the compound has been stored unopened in a
cool, dry area.
